02. What we collect and why

We only collect the data we need for each of the purposes below. We don’t use your data for automated decisions or profiling.

Contacting us

What we collect
Your name, email address and message, plus your company and phone number if you give them.
Why
To answer your enquiry and follow up on it.
Legal basis
Our legitimate interest in responding to you, or steps you ask us to take before a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) and 6(1)(b)).
How long we keep it
2 years after our last contact with you.

Newsletter

What we collect
Your email address, if you tick the newsletter box on the contact form.
Why
To send you our newsletter.
Legal basis
Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). You can unsubscribe at any time.
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent.

Your account

What we collect
Your name, email address and profile photo from your sign-in provider, or your phone number if you sign in by phone. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and we never see them. Phone sign-in uses Google reCAPTCHA to check the request before a code is sent by SMS.
Why
To sign you in and fill in the contact form for you.
Legal basis
Our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)).
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete your account. We then delete your data within 30 days.

Spam protection

What we collect
Your IP address, browser and device information, and how you interact with the page, collected by Google reCAPTCHA. It only loads on the contact form, and only if you accept functional cookies.
Why
To stop spam and automated abuse of the contact form.
Legal basis
Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
How long we keep it
Google keeps this data under its own privacy policy. We only receive a pass or fail result, which we don’t store.

Site analytics

What we collect
The pages you view, how you arrived and how you use them, your browser, device and approximate location, and a random ID stored in a cookie, collected by Google Analytics. It only loads if you accept analytics cookies. Google uses your IP address to estimate your location but doesn’t store it.
Why
To understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Google Analytics’ advertising features are switched off, so this data isn’t used for ads.
Legal basis
Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
How long we keep it
Google Analytics deletes the detailed data after 14 months at most. Summary reports, which don’t identify you, are kept.

Cookie consent record

What we collect
A random consent ID, the choices you made, the version of the cookie settings you saw, the date and time, and your user ID if you were signed in.
Why
To show that we asked for and received your consent.
Legal basis
Our legal obligation to be able to demonstrate consent (Art. 6(1)(c) and Art. 7(1)).
How long we keep it
3 years.

Technical data

What we collect
Your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, recorded by our hosting provider when your browser loads the site. When you send the contact form, the server that receives it also keeps your IP address in memory for up to an hour, without storing it, to limit how many messages one address can send.
Why
To deliver the site and keep it and the contact form secure.
Legal basis
Our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f)).
How long we keep it
About 30 days.
